Add us to the list of satisfied customers of ARC Painting. It's certainly possible to pay more for painting, but we can't imagine how you would get a better job.

We have a 1940s 2-story house in Berkeley with both wood and stucco exterior, and a mix of original wooden windows and doors and manufactured no-paint replacements. From our first meeting, Ernesto took the time to listen to our needs and concerns and explain options, and though his was not the lowest bid, we gladly gave him the job.

At first we wondered why it would take three weeks to complete the job, but it became clear when we saw how thoroughly and meticulously his crew prepared every surface, scraping, sanding, sealing, filling cracks and gaps, including reglazing numerous windows, and at least one primer coat on everything. Several neighbors commented on what a thorough job they were doing. All the while they were extremely polite, reliable, quiet, and considerate of our privacy, and worked with minimal disturbance of the landscaping.

We are delighted with the results. Ernesto did an excellent job of matching the existing colors, and everything was done with a level of craftsmanship that exceeded our expectations. He checked in regularly to make sure we were satisfied with every step of the process. The work comes with a ten-year guarantee, but it's hard to imagine that we would ever need to invoke the guarantee.

"We just finished having the exterior of our house painted by ARC Painting and I have nothing but great things to say about them. Our home is a large Berkeley 2-story craftsman, so it was a big job and ARC's bid was one of the most reasonable of the many we got. From the beginning, Catherine was very professional, responsive, and easy to work with in finalizing the contract and scheduling the job. Once the work began, Ernesto Arana did a great job of coordinating the crew and communicating regularly with us, coming by to supervise or meet with us in person whenever needed. The crew itself was very professional, hardworking, and polite, and always did a great job of completely cleaning up the site and stowing their gear and supplies at the end of each workday. For me, the pre-painting prep work is probably the most important part of the job, especially for our house because we had a lot of paint that was peeling off the shingles and siding and many holes that need to be filled. They spent a lot of time on this, sanding down all the peeled paint areas to bare wood, filling all holes & cracks, and spot priming before doing the main primer coat. After prep and priming, they did a very fine job painting the body, trim, window sashes, and doors. Even though they had painted sample sections for us, after the body was painted we decided to change the color slightly, and Ernesto was very flexible & understanding about this and did a whole new coat (including repainting the trim) for a very reasonable change fee. His philosophy throughout the job was to make sure that we were happy with the results, and in the end we got a beautiful paint job that we're completely satisfied with. We had lots of new windows installed on our house. ARC was recommended by the installer to paint the window trim inside and outside and to touch up the stucco and paint on the outside. They did such a good job that we had them paint our living room and other rooms in our downstairs area. Now we are having them paint our master bedroom, bathroom and closet. What better recommendation that that! Ernesto and his crew are very professional and they pay attention to detail.

We asked ARC to re-paint most of the interior of a two-bedroom house before we moved in. They spec'ed a seven-day job; it was done in four. (The advantage of not having furniture in the way and only using one color.) A couple days into the job it occurred to me that I hadn't asked them to patch over the holes left in the living room walls from taking out wall sconces, so I went by the house to check - and the living room walls were pristine! I took those sconces out myself, and I can't tell you where the holes were. The cracks are gone, and the missing sections of base board repaired - you can't tell they were ever missing. There's not a drop of paint on any floor, carpet, counter, or tile. You can tell the care that went into the prep work by the very clean edges in every room. We got their name from my sister, and I'll definitely be calling them again when we get up the courage to attack the kitchen.

I am writing to provide a glowing recommendation of ARC painting, headed up by the husband and wife team of Ernesto Arana (the service end) and Catherine Baldi (the business end). What made their work stand out was the great attention to detail. They made our shabby house look new by stripping off nearly all of the old paint before priming and re-painting.  Our neighbors were impressed by how thorough they were in their prep work, the key to a great finished service.  They also were very careful and thorough on the paint work, so that people thought they had done 3 coats rather than 2. They always kept things very tidy and their staff were always pleasant and professional. There fee was very reasonable.  I recommend them very highly.

ARC did an amazing job on our 100+ Victorian.  They were incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in not only the painting but the very labor intensive preparation that our old, neglected wood siding and trim needed.  After talking with a few other contractors, we felt the most comfortable with Ernesto and felt that his bid was the most realistic and fair. I checked a ton of reviews and even met with seven different painters and I picked Ernesto and Catherine b/c I felt they really cared and would look out for me.  With some of the others I felt it was all about how much money could the company get from me.  I painted my entire condo....bedrooms, bathrooms, living room and kitchen and Ernesto and his team did an amazing job.  At one point, Ernesto suggested an accent wall and he could tell I was a little nervous, so he suggested just trying it on one wall and keeping it very subtle....well, it looked so good, I ended up doing two other accent walls!  At another point, I realized I had made a terrible color choice in my bathrooms.  I called Ernesto and he came right over to see how the team was doing and to look at other colors with me...he calmed me down, helped me pick a better color and took care of it all!  I would definitely highly recommend this company....they also came it at a great price!

Your company is great, and as I often say, the only painter I have ever hired more than once!
